The ‘Experiences and Knowledge Sharing International Workshop’ took place online via Zoom and it was a success thanks to your active participation. We thank you all!
During the international workshop we had the opportunity to present the work that has been done on a national level, reflect on the best practices for observers and fishers and share experiences and tools which will help us work better together for sustainable fisheries in the Mediterranean’, said Miss Vicky Rae, MEDASSET Scientific Officer and Project Manager.
From the feedback received from the fishers, the observers and the participants of the workshop, to ensure continued good relations and collaborations, the importance of face to face contact is vital and this contact should not be broken, even if the surveying or project has ended . “They should keep in touch, activities can be carried out, training sessions can be given, more practices can be done together” stated a Turkish fisher.
The ‘Experiences and Knowledge Sharing for Building Strong and Maintaining Collaborations between Fishery Observers and the Fishing Community’ project is funded by the MAVA Foundation and implemented in Morocco, Turkey and Tunisia by MEDASSET, SPA/RAC, DEKAMER, TUDAV, ACCOBAMS, INRH, Doga Dernegi, WWF Med, AAO and BirdLife Europe and Central Asia.
