Every sea turtle has a story to tell. Through the Caretta²Zakynthos project, monitoring sea turtles in the waters of Zakynthos helps us better understand their lives, movements and the challenges they face in their natural environment.
In this video, we meet four turtles recorded through the project: Merlin, Loukas, Agesilaos and Nikos.
Four different stories offer us a glimpse into the life of loggerhead sea turtles in Zakynthos — from injuries and interactions with human activities to remarkable journeys and reappearances in the island’s waters.
Systematic monitoring and documentation help us understand these animals and their behaviour more closely and, importantly, provide valuable knowledge for developing more effective conservation measures.
