About MEDASSET:
MEDASSET (The Mediterranean Association to Save the Sea Turtles) is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1988. Our mission is to work for the conservation of sea turtles and their habitats throughout the Mediterranean. We actively participate in conservation and scientific research programs, public awareness campaigns, environmental education initiatives, and lobbying efforts.
Position Overview:
We are actively seeking a full-time Communications and Public Relations Officer to join our team, at our central Athens (Kolonaki) office in Greece. This role requires flexibility, excellent language skills (both Greek and English), and proficiency in IT. As part of our team, you’ll collaborate closely with other team members. Your responsibilities will include promoting awareness of ongoing projects and identifying new opportunities to publicize and advocate for our organization and its work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Communication Strategy and Implementation:
o Contribute to updating, managing, and implementing MEDASSET’s Communications Strategy and Plan.
o Develop Communication Strategies and Plans for conservation projects
2. Public relations:
o Enhance media penetration, online visibility, and public awareness related to marine conservation and sea turtles.
o Write press releases, maintain and enhance media relations.
o Liaise with other NGOs, institutions and organizations, both public and private.
o Dealing with enquiries from the public, the press and related organizations.
o Organizing and attending events such as press conferences, festivals, and exhibitions.
o Speaking publicly at interviews, press conferences and presentations.
3. Social Media and Online Presence:
o Content creation and maintenance of MEDASSET’s website.
o Develop, write, and post engaging content across various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn).
o Evaluate social media and website analytics, making recommendations for improvements.
o Coordinate online visibility efforts and maintain consistency of style.
4. Content Creation and Outreach:
o Design and produce communication materials (presentations, invitations, newsletters, posters, brochures, factsheets, infographics).
o Review and ensure consistency of messages in internal and external documents.
o Coordinate production processes with designers, printers, and video makers.
5. Collaboration and Support:
o Work cross-functionally with the MEDASSET team, assisting with content creation in both English and Greek.
o Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization.
o Assist in organizing and launching events and public awareness campaigns.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
• Master’s or higher level university degree (recognized in Greece if from an international institution) in Communication and Mass Media, with at least 1 year of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in these disciplines with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Excellent writing skills in both English and Greek. Additional language skills are a plus.
• Proficiency in social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn) and knowledge of the Meta Advertising Business Platform.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Ppt, Publisher) and WordPress content management system.
• Deep understanding of communication channels (Press and Media, Online) and ability to design and implement targeted communication activities.
• Attention to detail, adaptability, efficiency, and multitasking abilities.
• Experience in the environmental NGO sector is a plus.
• EU national or holder of a valid permit to work in Greece. Male Greek citizens should have fulfilled their military obligations.
• Valid automobile driver’s license.
• Familiarity with design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator) is advantageous.
