Our project “Wiki Loves Sea Turtle Monuments” has reached a significant milestone, as it now includes photos from six of the seven continents! In addition, an interactive monuments map has been created. Available on the project’s website, the map allows viewers to check the location of several sea turtle-related monuments all over the world, complete with photo and brief description.
Similar in scope, a dedicated Pinterest board has been created to mirror the map in the social media platform, making it available to a wide range of users. MEDASSET’s Pinterest profile features several boards exploring different aspects of sea turtle conservation and their role in our culture and society, both from a serious and an informal perspective.
The interactive map is an ongoing project that will continue to be updated as we discover new sea turtle monuments throughout the world. Anyone who would like to contribute and make the map more comprehensive can upload their photographs on Wikimedia Commons by following the simple guidelines described here.
We hope to expand the project as much as possible through the help of travelers all over the world and to make the topic of sea turtle conservation as engaging and fun as possible.
